Canadian dancer, Allan trained as a musician before developing a unique expressive style of dance, performing barefoot and in loose garments. She made her debut in Vienna in 1903 and achieved fame (and notoriety) with her sensational Vision of Salome, which she first performed at the Palace Theatre, London, 1908.
