Hirohito, meaning 'abundant benevolence', was the 124th Emperor of Japan who reigned for over sixty-two years. He became Regent in 1921, undertaking a six-month tour to Europe that year. During Hirohito's regency, a number of important events occurred including the General Election Law being passed giving all men above the age of 25 the right to vote.
