Henry was the heir and eldest son of James I and Anne of Denmark and a popular figure at court. The young prince died of typhoid at the age of eighteen and this print was one of a number of portrait prints produced in the period of mourning after his death. It served as a poignant reminder of his youth, noble bearing and valour tragically cut short.
