by George Frederic Watts
It is possible that Watts gave this portrait to his first wife, the actress Ellen Terry, as a gift on their marriage in 1864. Watts painted numerous self-portraits as a way to develop his style: ‘I paint myself constantly, that is to say whenever I want to make an experiment in method or colour.’
Card size: 125mm x 175mm
Images are printed in their original proportions, within a white border.
