Novelist and journalist. Born in Croydon, Burgin married Benington's sister, Georgina in 1893. During the 1880s, he served as Private Secretary to Baker Pasha, accompanying him to Asia Minor as Secretary of the Reform Commission in Armenia. He returned to England in 1895 and became sub-editor of the humorous journal The Idler until 1899. He wrote over 90 novels and was a Fellow of the Institute of Journalists.
