Gabriel Goodman was the dean of Westminster and the re-founder of Ruthin School, one of the oldest public schools in Britain. In 1559 Goodman was made a prebend of St Paul's Cathedral, and the following year he also became a prebend of Westminster Collegiate Church. Goodman was appointed dean of Westminster in 1561. In 1574 Goodman returned to his hometown of Ruthin, in Denbighshire, where he worked to secure the future of Ruthin School.
