Nineteenth-century Parsi businessman and philanthropist Sir Byramjee Jeejeebhoy founded several educational and medical institutions in India including The Byramjee Jeejeebhoy College, the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Parsee Charitable Institution in Mumbai and the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College in Pune. In October 1830, he leased from the East India Company seven villages between Jogeshwari and Borivili, totalling over 12,000 acres. He also owned Bandra Land's End where the Taj Hotel is now located.
