Bruce Bernard was the son of the architect and stage designer Oliver Bernard and opera singer Fedora Rosselli. He had two sisters and two famous brothers Oliver Bernard, poet and translator and Jeffrey Bernard. An habitue of Soho in the 1950s he was photographed by John Deakin in 1955 and subsequently became the owner of his surviving photographs which were subsequently acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum and the John Moore's Foundation.
