Playwright, author and campaigner for women's suffrage, Hatton was the daughter of the journalist and writer Joseph Hatton. Her fiction includes The Village of Youth and Other Fairytales, 1896 which was illustrated by her bother-in-law William Margetson. In 1908, Hatton co-founded the Women's Writers' Suffrage League with Cicely Hamilton, which set out 'to obtain the vote for women on the same terms as it is or may be granted to men.
