Catherine Opie 30th Anniversary Dyke Deck Playing Cards Set

First released by MOCA in 1995, Catherine Opie’s Dyke Deck features highly stylized  portraits of the artist’s queer community—both friends and strangers, including participants from an open call in San Francisco. Each suit represents a facet of identity and connection: Couples are Hearts, Jocks are Clubs, Femmes are Diamonds, and Butches are Spades.

This Thirtieth Anniversary Edition is a near-facsimile of the original, honouring a project that captured the strength, intimacy, and diversity of queer life. From playful poses to strikingly raw imagery, Opie’s portraits reflect the bold self-definition and collective care at the heart of her work.

The reissue includes a two-sided insert with Adriene Jenik’s custom “Poke-Her” games and a reproduction of the original call for participants, connecting this new edition to its radical beginnings in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
