Abstract painter, Blow, was born in Stoke Newington, London. She began her art education at St Martin's School of Art aged just fifteen, followed by the Royal Academy Schools and the Academy of Fine Arts, Rome. While travelling in 1947, she met the Italian artist Alberto Burri who inspired Blow to create abstract works and collage.
