Surveillance photographs of militant Suffragettes were issued to public galleries including the National Portrait Gallery in 1914. Most of the photographs show women serving sentences in Holloway and Manchester, and were taken undercover in prison exercise yards. Sitters are: 1. Margaret Scott, 2. Olive Leared, 3. Margaret McFarlane, 4. Mary Wyan, 5. Annie Bell, 6. Jane Short, 7. Gertrude Mary Ansell, 8. Maud Mary Brindley, 9. Verity Oates, 10. Evelyn Manesta.
