An exhibition of Kar's Armenian photographs was held in Berlin at the Central House of German-Soviet Friendship. While in the country, Kar made reportage photographs in both black-and-white and colour. Kar captured the dashed hopes of a woman by the state lottery stand in Stalinstadt. Founded in 1950 as the first German new town built after the Second World War, it was later absorbed into the new county area of Eisenhüttenstadt.
