Richard Watson was an Anglican clergyman and academic, who served as the Bishop of Llandaff from 1782 to 1816. He studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he became Professor of Chemistry in 1764 and Regius Professor of Divinity in 1771. Having been ordained as a priest in 1768, Watson's religious career began when he took up the position of prebendary of Trinity College in 1774.
