As a journalist and pacifist, Florence had been invited onto Henry Ford's Peace Ship to report on the voyages attempts to negotiate an end to World War I in Europe. On her return she became involved in pacifist efforts to prevent the United States involvement with the war. Two years later Florence moved to Cambridge with her husband, the economist Philip Florence. Increasingly involved with women's rights and a member of the Women's International League, Florence established the Cambridge Birth Control Clinic in 1925.... more
