John Michael Rysbrack NPG D18928
© National Portrait Gallery, London
by John Faber Jr, after John Vanderbank
Rysbrack arrived in England from Antwerp in 1720. Before this time, there was little demand for portraits sculpted from life: most sculpture was commissioned for funeral monuments. Skilled and confident, Rysbrack achieved almost instant success. In a lengthy career, his output included busts of sitters such as Alexander Pope and George II, statues from history and modern life, decorative sculpture and monuments.
Card size: 125mm x 175mm
Images are printed in their original proportions, within a white border.
