Anthony Newley (1931-1999) began his career as a child actor, cast as the Artful Dodger in David Lean's Oliver Twist (1948) and starting his singing career in 1959 for his role in the spoof film Idol on Parade. In 1960 he had four Top 10 hits, including two No. 1 singles, 'Why’ and 'Do You Mind'.
