Internationally renowned violinist Menuhin was born in New York, and first played with an orchestra at the age of seven. He maintained an international reputation throughout his life, playing with most of the world's major orchestras. During the 1950s Menuhin performed at the Aldeburgh Festival, and Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears joined him for concerts at the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, which he established in 1957.
