Soon after the Prince of Wales's appointment as Regent in 1811, it was decided that his only daughter should marry and start a family. Percy's wax sculpture is signed and dated 1814. This was the year that Princess Charlotte came of age and her father announced her engagement to the Dutch Prince William of Orange.
