Jane Seymour was born at Wolf Hall, Wiltshire, probably in 1509. She was the sister of Edward Seymour, later Duke of Somerset, and Thomas Seymour, Lord High Admiral. She came to Henry VIII's notice as a lady-in-waiting, first to Katherine of Aragon and then to Anne Boleyn.
