The English rhythm & blues and rock band, The Animals, formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in the early 1960s. Upon finding fame in 1964, the band moved to London. Known for their bluesy sound and the powerful voice of frontman Eric Burdon; which is evident on their No. 1 hit single, “House of the Rising Sun”. In early 1966 The Best of the Animals was released; it became their best-selling album in the US.
