This portrait of Jane Birkin was shot by Brian Duffy in 1965 for Queen Magazine and was taken around the beginning of her career as an actress and singer.

Birkin is perhaps best known for her role in the 1966 film Blow Up and for the single Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus which she recorded with Serge Gainsbourg. Their erotic appeal ensured the single was banned by the BBC, but it went on to become an international hit. Featured in the Queen's Birthday Honours list in June 2001, Birkin was Awarded an OBE for her services to acting and to Anglo-French cultural relations.

Duffy (1933 - 2010) was one of the photographers who defined the look of London's 'Swinging Sixties'. Together with David Bailey and Terence Donovan they were affectionately named by Norman Parkinson as the 'Black Trinity' and were elevated to celebrity status and known only by their surnames.

Duffy's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide and is highly collectable. Duffy is known as a 'photographers' photographer', and in 2013 was acknowledged as being one of the top 100 most influential photographers of all time.
