This photograph by Julia Margaret Cameron, signed by Palgrave, shows him in Arab dress wearing a turban. It was taken during his time as British consul at Trebizond, where he made extensive journeys in northern Asia Minor. Cameron was a pioneer photographer and is widely recognised as one of the most important photographers in the history of the medium.
