Inventor; inspired by a 1991 television programme about HIV and AIDS in Africa, Baylis invented the wind-up radio which works without electricity or batteries. The first working prototype (1994) has been superseded by other models, selling at a rate of about 120,000 a month. His autobiography, Clock This appeared in September 1999.
