Pauline Gower set up the first all-female air taxi service in 1931. With 2000 hours flying experience and having carried 33,000 passengers Gower contributed to war effort when she was invited to set up the women's section of the ATA (Air Transport Auxiliary). Gower was one of 12 women pilots at the start of the War.
