Glynne's discoveries on soil-borne, fungal diseases affecting crops has had a significant impact on agriculture. She attended Bangor School for Girls, co-founded by her mother and in 1917 graduated from the University College of North Wales in Botany. Glynne was offered the role of assistant botanist by Winifred Brenchley at the Rothamsted Experimental Station and founded its Plant Pathology Department.
