Murry was an Oxford undergraduate when he met Katherine Mansfield in 1911 and was at the time co-editor with the artist J. D. Fergusson of Rhythm, a bi-lingual quarterly described by D. H. Lawrence, before meeting Murry, as 'a daft paper', though he thought 'the folks seem rather nice'. Murry made his name as a critic and biographer but was best known as the editor of The Athenaeum (1919-21) and The Adelphi (1923-48); he devoted himself to Katherine Mansfield's posthumous literary reputation... more
