Known as 'Gill' in the industry, Harry Gillard was trained as a photographer by the Fleet Air Arm and was on air reconnaissance throughout the Second World War. On leaving the forces, he was employed by Rank Organisation based at Pinewood Studios, during the 'Golden Era' of British Cinema, remaining there until the department closed in 1970.
