Constance Gordon-Cumming is best remembered today for the distances she travelled and the locations she reached. These included Australia, New Zealand, America, Hawaii, China and Japan. In 1867 she spent a year with a married sister in India; this trip sparked her interest in travel. Having many connections, she often stayed with friends and family members. In later years she settled in Scotland, where she worked on her travel books and articles and arranged for exhibition the many watercolours she had produced in her travels.... more
