Wood was articled to a solicitor, qualified in 1903 and set up his own City practice specialising in industrial insurance law, which later became Kingsley Wood, Williams, Murphy, and Ross. He entered Parliament as a Conservative MP in 1918 and became Parliamentary Private Secretary to several ministers of health.
