by Michael Taylor
Bream was painted by Michael Taylor after winning the John Player Portrait Award in 1983. Bream is portrayed at home in Dorset playing the guitar. Taylor, whose portraits have a hyper-realistic intensity and often include disturbing effects of distorted perspective, revels in the curvaceous form of the instrument and the case with its emerald green lining. Commissioned by the Trustees as part of the first prize, John Player Portrait Award 1983.
