Entertainer. Daughter of an architect, wife of a chartered accountant, niece of Nancy Astor, Joyce Grenfell made her break as an entertainer in Herber Farjeon's The Little Revue in 1939. She worked with ENSA during the Second World War and became a familiar face in a number of films from Genevieve (1953) to the St Trinian's series (1954-6).
