This caricature was published to mark disapproval of an incident on 10th March 1902, in which MacNeill cheered the announcement in the House of Commons of the capture of Lord Methuen by the Boer guerilla fighters at Tweebosch. Macneill was a firm supporter of the Boer, as well as being a prominent campaigner for Home Rule in Ireland.
