Composer and teacher. Jacob studied at the Royal College of Music and joined the teaching staff there on graduation, where he remained until his retirement in 1966. He was a composer across different musical genres and was a popular choice for festival commissions. Jacob became known to a wider audience during World War II through his humorous arrangement of popular tunes for Tommy Handley's weekly radio comedy show ITMA.
