The 'Queen Caroline Affair' occasioned widespread 'outdoor agitation' in London and elsewhere. 'Queenites' -- ordinary people, especially women -- took to the streets to support Caroline. Though an unlikely focus of radical indignation, she was seen as an 'injured wife' and target of government oppression.
