by Jonathan Richardson
The use of vellum for an artist's drawing was old-fashioned by 1730 and was largely limited to the older generation of British-trained artists. This drawing of the 65-year-old Richardson wearing a wig is close to the oil at Polesden Lacey, Surrey. More detailed information on this portrait is available in a National Portrait Gallery collection catalogue, John Kerslake's Early Georgian Portraits (1977, out of print).
Card size: 125mm x 175mm
Images are printed in their original proportions, within a white border.
