by Thomas Fall
This portrait was taken two years after Grant returned to England; he spent his early childhood in India and Burma where his father's regiment was stationed. In 1893 he came back to England to go to school, living for most of this period with his cousins, the Stracheys. He was encouraged to train as a painter by his art teacher and his aunt, Lady Jane Strachey, who organised private drawing lessons and took him to visit artists' studios.
Card size: 125mm x 175mm
Images are printed in their original proportions, within a white border.
