Television chef and cookery writer. Born in Tucson, Arizona, where his Cantonese parents lived after moving to America in the 1920s. Hom learnt the art of Chinese cookery from his mother and at his uncle's restaurant in Chicago's Chinatown, where he worked from the age of eleven.
