The son of the Waterloo hero, the 1st Marquess of Anglesey, Paget was second in command at the disastrous charge of the light brigade, and one of the last to escape the famous ' Valley of Death'. Soon after he retired to England, subject to much criticism, but returned to the Crimea in February, 1855, serving out most of the remainder of the war.
