Essayist and sports writer; grandson of Charles Darwin. Called to the Bar (1903), but opted for full-time writing, mostly about golf. Contributed to The Times (1907-53) and Country Life (1907-61). Captained the British golf team in the first Walker Cup match in America, 1922; captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, 1934.
