Albert Victor Alexander was a Labour and Co-operative politician. In 1920 he was made secretary to the Co-operative Congress, the national conference for the British Co-operative Movement; he held this post until 1946. Alexander was elected to Parliament as a Co-operative Party MP in 1922. When Labour formed its first government in 1924, Ramsay Macdonald made Alexander Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State to the Board of Trade.
