An example of the many commemorative portraits in print that appeared in the wake of Princess Charlotte's death. This work, by an unknown hand, offered a reworking of the well-known, existing images of her already in circulation as engravings. Now recast as a tribute portrait on a memorial pedestal, a touch of pathos has been added with the inclusion of the portrait miniature of Prince Leopold prominently displayed on her chest.
