After leaving the army in 1946, Wisdom embarked on a career as an entertainer, appearing in variety shows across Britain. He is most famous for his extensive film career, in which he played Norman Puckle, a willing but hopeless 'little man' who struggled valiantly in situations with which the audience could identify.
