One of Britain's best-known writers on evolution, Professor Stephen Jones has been Head, Department of Genetics, Evolution and Environment at University College London since 2008. He gave the 1991 Reith Lectures on 'The Language of Genes' and his books include The Language of the Genes (1993, revised 2000) and The Descent of Men (2002).
