Actress, born in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. Began her career as a solo dancer on the London stage at the age of thirteen. Joan Maude was the niece of the actor Cyril Maude and daughter of the actress and theatre company director Nancy Price whom Yevonde also photographed. Worked in the theatre until the mid 1930s after which she transferred to working as a screen actress. Notable appearances include This Freedom (1923) and Hobson's Choice (1931).
