Born in the village of Neora near Patna, Sir Ali Imam was educated in England. When he returned to Patna in 1917, he took a position as a Judge at Patna High Court. He served as chief minister of the princely state of Hyderabad, British India and was a law member in the Imperial legislative Council. British India gave him the title of 'Sir'.
