Born in Florence, Rogers trained at London's Architectural Association and Yale University. In 1963 he was one of the architectural practice Team 4, with Norman Foster, Wendy Cheesman and Su Rogers, whose work included the factory for Reliance Controls Ltd, Swindon (1967). He gained international recognition, with Renzo Piano, for the design of the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (1971-77).
