At fifteen Mary Moore joined the chorus of The Bohemian Girl at the Gaiety Theatre. The following year she married the dramatist James Albery. From the mid-1880s, Albery, due to ill health and alcoholism, was unable to write, so Mary had to support their family. She already knew Charles Wyndham, and asked him for work.
