Arts administrator and journalist. Born in Czechoslovakia, Tusa moved to England in 1939. After studying history at Trinity College, Cambridge he joined the BBC in 1960 as a trainee, later becoming a presenter of The World Tonight (1968) and Newsnight (1979). In 1986 he was appointed managing director of the BBC World Service. As managing director of the Barbican Arts Centre (1995-2007), Tusa organisation flourished under his leadership.
