Newspaper proprietor and publisher. In the post-war years, King, the chairman of Mirror Newspapers and the Mirror Group, built a worldwide publishing empire, which became in 1963, the International Printing Corporation (IPC). Under King, the Daily Herald, 'Labour's own (and only) paper' became the Sun. King and Hugh Cudlipp, his editor at the Daily Mirror, had a serious impact on the fortunes of the post-war Labour Party, both in and out of office.
